Time for War.....tx diary
« on: September 07, 2010, 01:07:24 PM »
Good Morning,

Tomorrow is that day the battle begins.  Where the big guns come out and surprise attack this evil villain.

When accepted for a clinical trial your mind starts to spin.  Like,  Should I be giving up my naive status for this particular trial?  If it doesn't work how hard will it be to kill on the next attack?  Research helped and a confident trial Doctor. The realization that I no longer have health insurance, on a wait list for help and that I feel like life is being sucked out of me makes the decision for you.

If all goes well this is the "12 Week War".  So all of the planning was so much easier.   Just a few things to  wrap up.  Laundry to do (2 loads) , shopping is done, food is in fridge and freezer.  Car is fueled for the trips to the Doc.  Everything else can wait....like it has been.  LOL

Thought it would be great to write a journal and planned to start it on Sept 1st.  By the time Sept 1 got here I worked out so much in my head the journal is slow right now. Next week could be a Whole New Story...

I am unbelievably calm and reflective. Looking back over the months since the dx, from total disbelief , how this would work out and how well it has gone so far.  I feel very fortunate and hopefull.  A defining moment was the liver bx... it was so much!easier than my crazy head had made it that it made me determined to face the rest of this battle with confidence.

Already this disease has taught me so much.  Now I want to live and use it..

This time tomorrow I will be getting ready to go.  The nurse said that it will be from 11:00 to 4:30.  Another woman is starting the trial also.  We will be in a room with tv,dvd and wifi. and a recliner.  Sounds like my place but with a nurse and blood draws every hour..

Enough for now and time to get to the last few things or until I start to freak out and have to come here and let it out.

Thankfully this site has been here and You All have taught me so much..

Good Luck Ipaq
I am sure that all will go well, WOW only 12 weeks, my first 12 weeks were my easiest, after that it started getting harder each week so maybe you will have it easy.

Found a little quote for you...

Most of the side effects that you feel are due to this war that is going on inside of you day and night, at this very moment. Your body fighting off the intruders. An army of enemies being destroyed in an epic war of a microscopic universe within your veins. You don't feel any "side effects", what you feel is the heat of battle. And that should put a smile on your face. Every day."

Ipaq,

Don't forget that I am there with you holding your hand. I don't mind the sweaty palms, but could you lighten up on the grip. ;D.

Ipaq,

You've come so far and have learned so much,
now you'll finally be able to extend that knowledge to something tangible.

Keep us all posted and know that we've been where you are and a rooting for you!

Ok back to check in and what a great group of Peeps!! I just got off the phone with the nurse to make sure we were still on for tomorrow. I have had to stop taking some meds for the trial and do one change, the AD...  He must be shaking his cute head and thinking this lady is nutz!

Yep it a 12 week trial of a Polymerase Inhibitor.  They are thinking that for a Geno 2&3 that 12 weeks of the trial drug and SOC it should work.  There are 4 times during the trial that you have to stay and have your blood drawn for 4 times.  Looking at how the drug is entering the blood...

Going to keep posting (maybe to much) about how it is going.

Hop, like the tangible part..lol you mean shots and pills!! LOL
Pixie that is a great quote!!
Sweet Sue.... Sorry about the hand!  LOL If you feel some tight grasp tomorrow you will know it is the First Interferon shot or a blood draw. Man I hate needles!!  I JUST Can't Believe by this time tomorrow I will be home with one shot in!!!

Die you D**N Dragon DIE!!!

Oh that felt good!

ipaq, the shots don't hurt. The needle is very tiny so it's not like you think it will be. You can grasp, left hand only the right is still healing.
