Viewing cached browser content and database content are two different things.

The issue with posted content and the database which handles it is many factors occur in the background when someone makes a post. First it has to table who it is who created the post, the time and date created, update the creators post count, mark it as recent or not and so and so on. So the database has many tables functions associated to just one single post. It gets very complicated, not to mention that the database codes the posted content in UTF8 language and not simple text in many cases.

Is it doable? anything is doable, it comes down to the knowledge and time to perform such a task. Unfortunately, both I do not have. So it would require paying an outside technical service provider to perform the SQL and PHP programing task. $$$$$$ we don't have. If we have any SQL and PHP programing gurus out there who would be willing to take on this task for free please let me know.

We decided to simply implement a new site and database associated with it so we could continue our designated mission of providing knowledge, support and encouragement to those affected by hepatitis C without a lengthy delay in doing so. Waiting for the funds to hire someone to try and salvage our database content and repair damaged database structure associated with SMF and make it all work could have taken months to achieve if even possible. This would mean members and new members would go without any online support during this time. For us this was not an option.

You got it DJ. Without the site for two days was like quitting smoking cold turkey. And yes, I'm still trying to do that. Several weeks ago I ran out of cigarettes in the early evening. After all night and not having a cigarette for four hours the next morning I was shaking and almost listless. I finally went to the store and could hardly function to buy a pack and was shaking so bad the clerk came out and opened the pack for me and helped me light up.

How did everyone else got to keep all their knight and squire etc status when they had to resign as new users?

Just by posting. Some of us are a little obsessive about that  :embarrassed: and as you reach different #s, the status changes. Everyone started as "commoner" and went from there.
